| City of Sabae is located close to the center of Fukui Prefecture. It borders Fukui City to the north and Takefu City to the south. Sabae extends 18.6 kilometers from east to west and 8.4 kilometers from north to south. The land is generally flat, though there are mountains in the east and southwest. At the center of the city long, low hills extend from north to south, and it is along these hills that the city has developed. Three major highways cross from north to south. There are the National Highway Route 8 and the Nishi Junkan Road along the hills to the west and the Hokuriku Expressway to the east. The JR Hokuriku Honsen main railway line connects the city to the north and south. The Hino River flows from the south to the north and is at the center of rich community life and business activities. |
